GSP Submits Josh Kosceck UFC 124 Spolier

Sorry folks but you heard it here first, George Saint Pierre will defeat Josh Koscheck via submission and defend his welterweight title at UFC 124 in Montreal tonight. How you may ask can I predict this some ten hours before the fight? Easy... just simple math...
1/4 of GSP wins are by submission and 1/4 Josh Koscheck's losses are by submission. EASY!

I'm kidding obviously - so let me explain. We repeatedly hear how George's philosophy is to become the perfect mixed martial artist. Allow me to break down his pursuit of this ideal:

  • Wrestling  - The finest in MMA- for this he has trained with the Canadian Olympic Wrestling Team.
  • Stand-up - A mix of traditional Kyokushin (black belt level) - Muay Thai from the world renowned WAT in New York and Boxing with arguably the greatest coach to ever grace the beautiful science Freddie Roach and his Wild Card Gym in Las Vegas Nevada.
  • Jiu-Jitsu - Here is the true wild card - George has been training at Renzo Gracie's Manhattan Academy for the passed three years. The academy sits down three flights of stairs a stones-throw from Madison Square Garden. This underground layer is the home of Jiu-Jitsu's best kept secret - John Danaher. Working along side one of grappling's true demi-gods GSP's submission game has hit stellar heights - but for a gutsy performance from Dan Hardy and a slight lack of technique from George he would have six submission wins and not five.
I firmly believe George now has the submission game as his true focus - some quarters have maligned the champ for relying on wrestling and ground and pound to win fights - so tonight I see George getting his angles correct this time and finishing his opponent by submission.

FYI - you can get 5/2 for a GSP submission with Paddy Power - get on it folks.

Bernie Ecclestone You Mug

"Do you want to be a f*cking fighter?" - No? Well neither does Formula One Kingpin Bernie Ecclestone!

Never-the-less the 80 year-old multi-billionaire was the victim of vicious mugging outside his London home last week and from the picture above was left with what appears to be a fractured orbital bone and a nasty fat lip. It is believed that he was set upon by four masked men - alas he lost his first fight but ever the entrepreuner he has turned the situation around and is using this severe beating to plug his personal line of Hublot watches.

Don't know about you but it beats all thoughs pathetic ads of Jenson Button looking like he may need the toilet.

UFC back in Ireland for Paddys Day

Great Stuff - it looks like the UFC is returning to Dublin for Paddy's Day 2011.
Anybody who was lucky enough to get along to the previous Irish event - UFC 93 will tell you that its an event not to be missed. Last time we were treated to a stellar card featuring Shogun Rua's defeat Mark Coleman and Rich Franklin losing a narrow decision over Dan Henderson. The card also featured Martin Kampmann, Denis Siver and John Hathaway who have all made steady climbs up through the rankings since.

According to UFC UK President Marshall Zelaznik.
"We are targeting Dublin for 2011 and working toward St. Patricks Day."

Now all we need is GSP versus Jake Shields to be added to the main event :-)
